2019 FOOTbridge Award

Ginny Hawker and Tracy Schwarz of Gilmer County will receive the 2019 FOOTBridge Award on Thursday, May 23, in recognition of their years of dedication to the performance and preservation of the traditional folk arts.

Ginny has taught countless workshops and seminars on Southern vocal styles including Carter-family harmonies, unaccompanied Primitive Baptist hymns and classic country music.

Tracy has been a member of the New Lost City Ramblers for more than 40 years, performing Appalachian and Cajun music on the fiddle, guitar and other instruments as well as singing.

Together they have toured across North America and the United Kingdom.

The FOOTBridge Award is given by FOOTMAD to honor individuals who have devoted a lifetime to the traditional folk arts.

2019 FOOTbridge Award Dinner to celebrate Ginny Hawker and Tracy Schwarz:

Come down to Charleston the day before Vandalia Gathering for a great evening of food and music from Emily Miller and Jesse Milnes, and Grand Bon Rien

Dinner of Cajun gumbo, cornbread and beans by Bluegrass Kitchen.

Be sure to get your tickets by May 16 to enjoy a delicious dinner before the concert!

Tickets are $35/person and include dinner and concert.
